I first had a go at reading the Gormenghast trilogy about 24 years ago, at the age of 19, when I was reading a lot of science and fantasy fiction. I originally bought Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast trilogy back in the 1960s, long before Amazon was a twinkle in anyone's eye, so I'm not sure how they/it (i.e. Lord Sepulchrave among the bats, Sourdust, Clarice and Cora and others all lost in the first book Titus Groan.
